New Delhi: The Indian Army has started its large-scale Agniveer recruitment drive for the 2026–27 session under the Agnipath scheme. The campaign aims to recruit young candidates across India and is expected to fill more than 25,000 positions in different categories. The initiative is part of efforts to maintain a youthful and balanced force structure.

Recruitment is open for multiple roles suited to candidates with different educational backgrounds:
• Agniveer General Duty (GD)
• Agniveer Technical
• Agniveer Clerk / Store Keeper Technical
• Agniveer Tradesman (8th and 10th pass)
• Agniveer Women Military Police
• Special entries including Sepoy Pharma, Soldier Technical (Nursing Assistant), and JCO Religious Teacher
Eligibility Criteria
• Age limit: Mostly 17.5 to 21 years, with some relaxation for specific categories
• Educational qualification: From 8th pass to 12th pass depending on the post
• Physical standards: Height requirements vary by region and role, usually between 162 cm and 170 cm, along with specified chest measurements
Selection Process
The recruitment process will be completed in three stages:
1. Online Common Entrance Exam covering subjects like general knowledge, mathematics, science, and reasoning
2. Recruitment rally including physical fitness and measurement tests
3. Medical examination and document verification before the final merit list
Salary and Benefits
Selected candidates will serve for four years under the Agnipath system. Monthly pay starts at ₹30,000 in the first year and gradually rises to ₹40,000 by the fourth year. After completing service, Agniveers receive a Seva Nidhi package of about ₹11.71 lakh including interest.
