The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, has issued a weather advisory in view of the prediction of **moderate rain and thunder at many places with heavy rainfall at a few places, accompanied by intense showers and gusty winds from August 17 to August 19, 2025, as forecasted by the Meteorological Centre, Srinagar.
According to the advisory, residents of the district—particularly those living in higher reaches such as Keran, Karnah, Machhil, Budnamal, Jumgund, Kumkadi, and other peripheral areas—have been strongly advised to avoid venturing into landslide- and avalanche-prone zones during this period. Authorities warned that slippery conditions, mudslides, and sudden weather changes may pose serious risks.
Tourists, travelers, and transporters have also been asked to verify road conditions before undertaking any journey to or within Kupwara district.
