South Africa delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat India by 76 runs in their Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup 2026 at Ahmedabad on Sunday.
After choosing to bat first, South Africa put up a competitive total of 187 for 7. David Miller played a brilliant knock of 63 runs off 35 balls, while Dewald Brevis supported him with 45 off 29 deliveries. The duo rebuilt the innings with a quick 97-run partnership for the fourth wicket in just 51 balls.
India struggled throughout their chase and failed to build momentum. The Aiden Markram-led South African side controlled the game with disciplined bowling and bowled India out for 111 in 18.5 overs.
Marco Jansen led the bowling attack with impressive figures of 4 for 22. Keshav Maharaj picked up 3 for 24, and Corbin Bosch claimed 2 for 12. Lungi Ngidi maintained tight lines and conceded only 15 runs in his four overs, putting pressure on the Indian batters despite going wicketless.
Shivam Dube was the top scorer for India with 42 runs from 37 balls, but his effort was not enough to avoid a heavy defeat.
