New Pass Criteria Announced by J&K Board for Higher Secondary Exams 2025

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has released the new marks distribution and passing criteria for Higher Secondary Part-II (Class 12) students for the academic session 2024–25.

According to the notification, the minimum marks required to pass in each subject under Humanities, Science, Home Science, and Commerce streams have been revised.

As per the board guidelines:

Students must secure 33% marks in General English.

In the remaining four elective subjects, students must score at least 36% marks in each subject.

For subjects with practical components, candidates must obtain 36% separately in theory and practicals, as well as 36% in total aggregate (theory + practical + internal assessment).

Subject-wise details:

General English: 33 marks required to pass (26 in theory and 7 in internal).

Other subjects (like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, History, Accountancy, etc.): 36 marks required to pass (with specific minimum marks in theory, internal, and practical components).

The notice emphasizes that students must perform consistently across both theory and practical exams to qualify. The updated structure aims to maintain academic standards and ensure fair evaluation across streams.

The new pass mark scheme will be effective from the Annual Regular Examination 2025.
