Rain, Thunderstorms Likely in Kashmir from June 21: MeT Issues Advisory


 

The Meteorological Department (MeT) has issued a detailed weather forecast and advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, warning of potential rain, thunderstorms, and localized flash floods in the latter half of June. The advisory especially highlights Jammu division as vulnerable to intense weather activity.


🔹 Forecast Highlights:


June 20: Will remain hot and dry with heat wave to severe heat wave conditions at isolated locations. However, there is a possibility of brief rain or thundershowers in some areas.


June 21–22: Expected to be generally cloudy, with intermittent spells of rain/thundershowers at many places. Intense showers may occur at a few locations.


June 23–24: Likely to witness brief spells of rain/thundershowers at scattered locations.


June 25–27: The region is likely to see light to moderate rain/thundershowers at many places.


June 28–30: Intermittent rain/thundershowers expected at scattered areas.



⚠️ Advisory for Farmers & General Public:


Farmers are advised to complete all field operations by June 20 to avoid crop damage due to wet conditions.


There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly in Jammu division, on June 21–22 and June 25–27.


The MeT has also cautioned against flash floods, landslides, and shooting stones, especially in vulnerable hilly regions.
