The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued a fresh directive regarding school timings for both government and recognized private schools across the Kashmir Division, effective June 21, 2025.
According to Order No. 166-DSEK of 2025, dated 20-06-2025, the revised school timings are categorized based on the location of the institutions:
1. Schools falling within Srinagar Municipal Limits will now operate from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
2. Schools outside the Municipal Limits of Srinagar District and other areas of Kashmir Province will function from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The order clearly states that the new timings must be strictly adhered to by all concerned institutions. Any deviation from the instructed schedule shall be viewed seriously.
The directive has been issued to ensure uniformity and better management in school functioning amid changing weather and operational conditions.
The order has been circulated to all divisional and district-level education officers, police authorities, and media units for wide dissemination and strict implementation.
