Srinagar, Feb 18: The crescent moon marking the start of Ramadan 1447 A.H has been sighted, and the holy month will begin tomorrow, Thursday, in Jammu and Kashmir, Grand Mufti Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Farooqi announced on Wednesday evening.
According to the Grand Mufti, his office received reliable reports confirming the moon sighting from several areas across Jammu and Kashmir. After consulting scholars representing different schools of thought, the official declaration was made that Ramadan will commence tomorrow.
He also appealed to people to support the poor and vulnerable during this sacred month and encouraged acts of charity and kindness to seek the blessings of Almighty Allah.
