A woman died in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki after an unqualified doctor carried out her kidney stone operation by following a YouTube video. The man was drunk during the procedure. He failed to remove the stone and instead damaged vital organs. The injuries led to her death.
The victim, Munishra Rawat, developed intense stomach pain on December 5. Her husband, Fateh Bahadur, took her to Shri Damodar Aushadhalaya, an illegal clinic in Barabanki. The clinic belonged to Gyan Prakash Mishra and Vivek Mishra. Gyan Prakash claimed a kidney stone caused the pain and advised surgery. He initially demanded Rs 25,000 and later agreed to Rs 20,000.
On the following day, Gyan Prakash began the surgery while watching a video online. He was intoxicated at the time. During the operation, he made deep cuts and injured the woman’s stomach, small intestine, and oesophagus. Munishra died the next day after suffering extreme pain.

After her death, Fateh Bahadur filed a complaint at the local police station. Police inspected the clinic and sent the body for post-mortem examination. They registered a case against both men for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and also invoked provisions of the SC ST Act.
Senior police officer Amit Singh Bhaduria said the clinic was found locked during inspection. Police issued notices and launched a search. The accused remain absconding, and arrests are expected soon.
