The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has issued Advertisement Notification No. 11 of 2025, announcing 83 vacancies for the post of Sub-Inspector (Telecommunication) in the Home Department . Online applications will be accepted from 15 December 2025 to 13 January 2026.
The recruitment process has sparked major interest across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly after many candidates sought clarity on physical standards mentioned in the notification, especially the chest measurement for male applicants.
According to the official document, male candidates must have a chest measurement of 32 inches unexpanded and 33½ inches expanded . The expanded value, written as 33½, is read as “thirty-three and a half inches.” This clarification ensures that candidates understand the exact benchmark required for passing the Physical Standard Test (PST).
Physical Standard Requirements (PST)
As per Annexure-B of the advertisement :
• Height (Male): 5 feet 6 inches
• Chest (Male): 32 inches unexpanded
• Chest (Male): 33½ inches expanded
• Height (Female): 5 feet 2 inches
The PST is qualifying in nature, meaning only candidates meeting these measurements will proceed to the Physical Endurance Test (PET). The PET for males includes a 1600-meter race in 6.5 minutes and 20 pushups .
Vacancy Distribution and Eligibility
The 83 posts are UT-cadre positions with Level-6C pay scale (₹35,700–1,13,100), offering a competitive salary structure. The posts are distributed across categories including OM, SC, ST-1, ST-2, OBC, RBA, ALC/IB, and EWS, as shown in Annexure-A .
