PSAJK, Universities, and CEO Doda Condemn the Attack


Srinagar, Apr 23 (KNO): In the aftermath of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, widespread mourning and shutdowns are being observed across Jammu and Kashmir. The Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) has announced the closure of all private schools in the Valley today as a mark of respect and solidarity with the victims’ families.


According to the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), PSAJK stated that this step is a symbolic protest and a show of unity against the act of violence. April 23, 2025, has been declared a day of mourning, emphasizing the association’s commitment to peace and humanity. PSAJK President G. N. Var condemned the incident, saying, "We stand with the victims’ families, and school closures are a small gesture to express our collective grief."


Exams Postponed Across Major Universities


In related developments, all examinations scheduled for April 23, 2025, by Cluster University Jammu and the University of Kashmir have been officially postponed.


The Controller of Examinations, Cluster University of Jammu, issued a notice stating, “All Cluster University Examinations scheduled for 23/4/2025 stand postponed. Fresh dates will be notified shortly.”


Similarly, the Assistant Controller of Examinations, University of Kashmir, confirmed via a public message: “All examinations scheduled today stand postponed.” New exam dates will be announced later.


CEO Doda Suspends Classwork


In view of the bandh call given by various associations in Doda over the Pahalgam attack, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Doda has ordered the suspension of classwork in all schools and colleges of the district for April 23 to ensure student safety. However, all teaching and non-teaching staff have been directed to report to their schools as usual.


The order, dated April 22, reads: “To prevent inconvenience and ensure the safety of students, classwork shall remain suspended tomorrow. All staff must attend schools as per routine.”


These collective measures reflect the region's unified condemnation of the attack and the continued stand for peace and communal harmony.
