Today, September 16, 2024, Jammu and Kashmir observes a public holiday for Eid Milad-un-Nabi as per the official calendar, with schools, government offices, and businesses closed. However, the Rabi' al-Awwal moon was not sighted earlier this month, resulting in the official celebration of Eid Milad-un-Nabi being scheduled for tomorrow, September 17, 2024.
Despite the moon sighting announcement, there has been no change in the holiday schedule, and public processions, prayers, and religious gatherings are expected across the region to commemorate the birth and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
