JKBOSE: Syllabus Relaxation Not Yet Finalised; No Changes Until Completion of Current Curriculum

Jammu & Kashmir, September 2025:The Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially stated that it is too early to make any decision regarding relaxing the syllabus for the upcoming Class 10, 11, and 12 annual examinations. This clarification comes amidst widespread student and parent expectation that some syllabus reduction might be announced in view of seasonal disruptions and delays in school operations.

The Secretary, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, has clarified that no decision on syllabus relaxation has been taken. Any such decision will be made only after assessing the level of syllabus completion by the end of this academic session.

Exam schedule for annual exams (Classes 10, 11, 12): Some sources suggest exam dates might begin in early November, with Class 10 first, followed by Classes 11 and 12. However, there is no official release or notification from JKBOSE confirming these dates at present.

Form submission status: Claims that “99.5% of students have already submitted forms, last date with late fee Sept 29” have been circulating, but no JKBOSE notification has been found to corroborate those exact figures or deadlines.

New textbooks & distribution: Some reports mention that new textbooks for the next session are expected to be printed by approximately November 20, with distribution before the winter vacation. These too remain unverified by official sources at this time.

Important messages for students

Continue preparation under the assumption that exams may proceed as scheduled (i.e. with full syllabus). Given that no relaxation has been confirmed, relying on full coverage will be safer.

Watch official JKBOSE channels (website, notices) for updates—especially concerning syllabus changes, exam schedules, and form submission deadlines.

If syllabus relaxation is eventually considered, its scope (percentage/subjects affected) will likely depend strongly on how much of the syllabus has already been taught by schools across various zones.
